When you create a SafeSpace account, we collect information you provide directly, including your name, email address, date of birth, gender identity, pronouns, and profile content such as photos and Reality Cards.

We also collect usage data to improve the app experience, including interaction patterns, feature usage, and device information. This data is anonymized and never tied to your identity for advertising purposes.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Create and maintain your account
• Match you with compatible people based on values, interests, and preferences
• Provide wellness features like mood tracking and journaling
• Enforce our community guidelines and safety policies
• Send you relevant notifications about matches and messages
• Improve and develop new features

3. What We Never Do

SafeSpace is built on trust. We will never sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for targeted advertising. Your orientation, gender identity, and wellness data receive the highest level of protection and are never shared externally.

4. Data Visibility Controls

You have granular control over what others can see. Your gender identity, sexual orientation, pronouns, and other sensitive details have individual visibility settings. You can choose to show, hide, or limit visibility for each field.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We use industry-standard security practices including TLS encryption, secure authentication via Clerk, and regular security audits. Our infrastructure is hosted on trusted cloud providers with SOC 2 compliance.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from the app settings. When you delete your account, we remove your profile, matches, messages, and Reality Cards. Some data may be retained for up to 30 days for safety purposes (e.g., to process pending reports), after which it is permanently deleted.

7. Third-Party Services

We use a limited number of third-party services to operate SafeSpace, including authentication (Clerk), database (Convex), cloud storage, and analytics. These providers are contractually bound to protect your data and may only process it on our behalf.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access all data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate information
• Delete your account and data
• Export your data in a portable format
• Opt out of non-essential data collection
